All the cameras we use are manufactured by Axis Communications, the world leader in Internet Protocol cameras, so you can be assured of the quality of the product. Wired cameras need both power and communications supplied to them, normally requiring two cables. Wireless cameras still require a power cable, but the internet communication is done by microwave signal back to a wireless receiver on the router.
All the cameras we supply can be used wired. In addition, the 207W and 207MW internal cameras are wireless also. All external cameras are wired. See also Camera Power Supplies.
Wiring (or cabling) cameras back to the router is essential if the camera is separated from the router by thick stone walls or similar. In any other scenario the wireless cameras offer more flexibility to reposition from time to time without having to rewire back to the router again: they can just be plugged into the nearest mains power supply and will instantly work again.
